Ambato history

There corresponds to friars Dominicos the
foundation of the town of Baños the year 1553, as doors that
would be existed for to evangelization of the Amazonian
peoples. In 1570 Antonio Clavijo raises the first seat
populated with the name of Ambato's San Juan.

In the space of five years founds also Píllaro, Pelileo, Paute and Quero.

|
Inside the Real Audiencia of Quito, on having got up to
Riobamba's city to the category of Villa, is assigned
to it Ambato and Mocha as Possessions.

The Primera Imprenta
|
 One must emphasize that during the Cologne, the first press
was installed in Ambato city. This one was brought by
the parents Jesuits and operated by the German typographer
Johanes Schartz. This press was moved the year 1670 to San
Luis' seminar in the city of
Quito. The first newspaper was edited the year
1835 and from this epoch Ambato has been a
great center of diffusion of the thought written by means of
newspapers, magazines and books. |
