Montañita Ecuador

Montañita is one of the most famous places in Ecuador for surfers. This beach is famous for its huge waves.

About three and a half hours north of Guayaquil along the Ruta del Sol, Montañita is one of the few Ecuadorian beach towns with a great selection of international restaurants and hostels for all budgets.

It has a population of around 1,000 inhabitants. Water temperatures range from 56-68 degrees.

Montañita is fast becoming South America's surfing mecca

Strong, consistent waves and good tubes make it a great place to learn to surf and an increasingly popular destination on the international surfing circuit. In February every year, at Carnival time, Montañita hosts a surfing competition which is televised in Ecuador and stars competitors from as far away as Australia and Hawaii.
