The M/N Galapagos Explorer II was part of the International Cruise Line "Renaissance" and has been operating in the Galapagos Islands since February 1998. It was built in La Spezzia (Italy) in 1990, with an overall length of 89.35 meters and reaching 17 knots,

The Galapagos Explorer II is the newest and safest of the vessels cruising the Galapagos' waters.

The ship has capacity for 105 passengers due to the National Park regulations. The Galapagos Explorer only carries 100 passengers. It has 53 air conditioned outside Suites, each one with private bathroom and a small sitting area.

Features aboard include swimming pool, solarium, spacious dining room, an electronic elevator, large conference room, lounge, three bar areas with music, Boutique and reading room.

Six naturalist guides aboard lead daily shore excursions and offer nightly briefings to prepare passengers for the islands to be visited the next day. Dining aboard consist of both international and Ecuadorian specialties
