Which is the official currency?

The official currency of Ecuador and therefore of Galapagos is the US dollar.

Depending on your currency and the exchange rate, it can be recommended to exchange money in Ecuador, as the exchange rate can be much better here than in your country.

You should take USD in cash with you or traveler checks.

The most common credit cards to pay with or to draw cash are:

- American Express (Filancard Bank)

- Euro/Mastercard (Mastercard Bank)

- Visa (Filanbanco).
