It has 5,400
population employed in fishing and Government work and is less
touristy than Puerto Ayora but is still very pleasant to amble
around with plenty to do in the surrounding areas. There is a
small natural history museum (Franciscan) to visit of interest
as well as a cathedral on Avenida Northia with painted murals
depicting
Galapagos themes.
At the North end of
the town you can also visit the Interpretation center (Centro
de lnterpretacion) with exhibits of the history of the islands
and biological interpretations and examples.
