Land Iguana: (Conoluphus spp) There are only two endemic species: Conoluphus subcristatus, the most widespread and Colophus pallidus, found only in Santa Fe Island. Adult land iguanas are vegetarian and eat mostly Opuntia cactus pads and fruits, flowers.

Young iguanas begin life eating various insects before converting to vegetarianism.

Large male Land Iguanas may reach 13 kg in weight and more then 1 m in lensgth.

Galapagos Islands, Snakes

Snakes: (Phylodrias sp and Alsophis sp), Galapagos has three species of endemic snake. They feed mostly on lava lizards, young marine iguanas and geckos.

They are only about 1 m long and harmless to humans.

Most often they are seen in the coastal zones, particularly in Española Island and Fernandina Island
